的 application process includes two steps.

  1. 的 first step requires you to submit an online University application using the Cal 状态申请门户.
  2. 的 second step requires submission of an Anthropology Department application which will be accepted via email during the campus closure.

的 final deadline for submitting all materials is 2024年4月1日. However, if you submit all materials by our early decision deadline of 2024年2月1日 we promise a decision by the end of February.

Step 1: 的 University Application

You will need to apply 到 University to obtain approval for University-level admission. Minimum requirements for admission to 圣何塞州立大学 are outlined in the Graduate 招生 section of the 菠菜网lol正规平台 catalog. 的 application 到 University is submitted electronically through 加州申请. 的 Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required for admission 到 University (CAL State Apply) or 到 Anthropology Department.

请注意: 的 University-level graduate application 是单独的 from the application you send 到 department. Deadlines for the University Application 可以在 Graduate 招生 website. (Please note that only GAPE can receive official transcripts, the Anthropology Department is unable to forward transcripts to GAPE.)

Step 2: 的 Anthropology Department Application

You will also need to apply 到 Anthropology Department to obtain approval for 入学M.A. 程序 in Applied Anthropology. 

Please submit the following materials 到 Anthropology Department:

  • A 2-3 page letter of intent that addresses: (1) how your background prepares you for our program; and (2) how our program fits into your career plans
  • A sample of your academic writing (8 page minimum)
  • A current curriculum vita or resume
  • Two signed letters of recommendation, at least 一个 from an academic reference*
  • Optional, but encouraged: apply for the Allison and Elizabeth Stubbs Davis Graduate Fellowship by submitting a 450-500-word statement summarizing how your work or career objectives include a commitment to race, class, education, or African American communities. 的 award, which will be announced in September, includes an unrestricted honorarium of $2000.

注意: For applicants seeking re入学M.A. program in Applied Anthropology, we strongly recommend that the writing sample take the form of a detailed prospectus describing their projects or theses. 

注意: We do not accept internal transfers in到 M.A. program in Applied Anthropology 来自另一个M.A. 在上海州立大学. If you are currently a graduate student at 菠菜网lol正规平台 and wish to enroll in Applied Anthropology, you will need to apply 到 program through the two steps described above.  

注意: Fall 2024 admitted students must accept their admission by (1) saying ‘yes’ through Intent to Enroll and (2) paying a $200 non refundable (and non transferable) enrollment deposit by June 1, 2024 in order to register for Fall 2024 classes. 200美元的学费 deposit will be applied towards your tuition and fees once you enroll in Fall 2024 classes.
